A Golden Honour: 50 Nominations for this St. Joe’s Miracle Worker
In 2018, Dr. Anthony Adili, a leading orthopaedic surgeon and Chief Innovation Officer at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, performed Canada’s first robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery. Seven years later, Dr. Adili has been studying how AI, 3D printing technology and robotic-assisted joint replacements can help patients to heal faster and regain their mobility and independence.
This year, Dr. Adili celebrated another exciting achievement — he received his 50th Miracle Worker nomination from grateful patients Eva and Don Marsh, a local couple who both received orthopaedic surgeries at St. Joe’s.
“I’m happy to be mobile and pain-free after my surgery, able to dance around my kitchen as I prepare
our supper,” says Eva. “I received the same wonderful care and smooth process as my husband did for his hip surgery, and I’ve never been in a happier hospital ward! We knew we were in good hands with Dr. Adili.”
To mark the occasion, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation presented Dr. Adili with a special gold-edged lapel pin.
“It’s an honour to work alongside an incredible team at St. Joe’s. And it’s even more rewarding to know that the care we provide, the surgeries we perform, are making a difference in the lives of people like Eva and Don and so many others. To know they’re still dancing, because of the care we’ve provided them — that’s why we come to work every day,” says Dr. Adili.
The Miracle Worker program offers patients the chance to make a donation and send a personal note to the doctor, nurse, volunteer, or allied healthcare professional who made a difference during their care experience at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Every gift to our Miracle Worker program helps give back to our Hospital, funding life-saving equipment purchases, innovative research projects, and renovations to patient care areas.
