Alan Frew, Canadian Rock Legend Headlines A Valentine’s Evening in Support of Prostate Cancer Care and Research at St. Joe’s

On Friday, Feb. 11, Alan Frew of the iconic Canadian rock band Glass Tiger will make a rare appearance at Hamilton’s historic Zoetic Theatre for a special event in support of St. Joe’s renowned prostate cancer care program.

A Valentine’s Evening with Alan Frew will see the Juno-award-winning vocalist of ‘80s anthems like Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone) and Someday sharing songs and stories from his life and career. The event organizers will allocate funds raised through the event to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation to support prostate cancer care and research at St. Joe’s Hospital.

As the regional lead for prostate cancer treatment, surgery and care, and one of only a few centres in Canada with a robotic surgery program, St. Joe’s Hospital is recognized internationally as a leader in prostate cancer care innovation.

St. Joe’s patients who undergo robotic prostate cancer surgery have smaller incisions that heal faster, so they can go home sooner. Robotic surgery also reduces blood loss, lowers the chance of infection, and lessens pain and trauma to the body. Even so, robotic surgery is not funded by the province, and is made possible at St. Joe’s Hospital thanks to ongoing donations from the community.

Funds raised through A Valentine’s Evening with Alan Frew will help to purchase specialized instruments so that St. Joe’s can continue to offer robotic prostate cancer surgery, while advancing the future of prostate cancer care in our region through research.

We are grateful to local businessmen Gabe Macaluso, Matteo Sacco and Sergio Girgenti for planning this event in support of our Hospital. Tickets to A Valentine’s Evening with Alan Frew are $80 plus applicable fees and taxes and are available for purchase at www.thezoetic.ca/events.

Like most events, A Valentine’s Evening with Alan Frew may be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the most up-to-date public health guidelines. All guests will be informed of the event’s status as the concert date approaches.
