Bay Racers Go the Extra Mile(s) to Support St. Joe’s

A new (longer!) 35.4K route, sub-zero temperatures and the discovery of a sinkhole weren’t enough to stop the 130^th running of the Around the Bay Road Race on Sunday. In fact, the clear skies, sunshine and dry course conditions made it the perfect day for a run around the bay.

Amidst many changes to this year’s event – a new home, new route and new distances – one thing that remained the same was the dedication of our Hospital staff, corporate fundraising teams and individual supporters who came together to help our Foundation cross the fundraising finish line, raising over $420,000 to support our Hospital.

Funds raised through this year’s event will support the renewal of the Emergency Department at our Charlton Campus. Open 24/7/365, St. Joe’s ER is the busiest in the city caring for more than 60,000 patients each year – which equates to 167 visits every single day. But after 20+ years, the current ER footprint is too small to keep pace with the growing demand for urgent care.

We’re grateful to every participant and donor who played a role in making Hamilton’s race supporting Hamilton’s hospital such a resounding success in 2024!
