For a Limited Time, Your Donation to Support Team St. Joe’s in the Bay Race Will be DOUBLED

Melissa Farrell, President, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and Dr. Zain Chagla, Medical Director, Infection Control are the co-captains of Team St. Joe’s – a collection of doctors, nurses, healthcare workers and community members (just like you!) who are signing up to walk, run and raise funds for St. Joe’s in the 2021 Virtual Around the Bay Road Race.

“Physically-distanced outdoor exercise like walking or running is one of the safest activities we can all engage in amidst COVID-19. It’s also one of the best things we can do for our physical and mental health,” says Dr. Chagla who’s signed up to complete a 5km run. (Click here to sponsor Zain’s run)

Collectively, Team St. Joe’s is aiming to raise $80,000 and that lofty goal just got a tremendous boost from a group of generous St. Joe’s supporters who would like to inspire the community to rally behind our healthcare heroes. Four individuals have come together to create a $25,000 matching fund that will be used to double every donation made to Team St. Joe’s for a limited time.

“Now, if you pledge $100 to support your favourite runner on Team St. Joes, it will turn into $200. If you pledge $250, it will become $500, and so on,” says Sera Filice-Armenio, President and CEO, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation and a fellow member of Team St. Joe’s. “We’re so grateful to the anonymous, caring community leaders for their matching donations and for their support of our healthcare heroes.” (Click here to sponsor Sera’s run)

So far, Team St. Joe’s is at $31,000 towards their $80,000 goal. But the new matching program holds the promise of another $50,000 total once all matching funds are utilized. To take advantage of this opportunity to double your donation to St. Joe’s, visit www.stjoesfoundation.ca/atb and search for your favourite Team St. Joe’s participant to support their run, or click here to support Team St. Joe’s as a whole!

“The COVID-19 pandemic has been hard on all of us. Long-lasting feelings of fear, anxiety, depression and isolation are impacting the mental health and wellbeing of so many. That’s why we’re so proud to share that funds raised through this year’s Around the Bay Road Race will support mental health services for our community and for frontline workers,” says Ms. Farrell who’s also committed to running 5km for the event.
