Four Generous Donors are Doubling Down on Team St. Joe’s!
Few events have the power to bring our community and our Hospital together like the iconic Around the Bay Road Race. After two years of pandemic restrictions and virtual runs, this year, the Bay Race is back! Organizers are planning for a hybrid in-person/virtual event taking place on Sunday, March 27, 2022. St. Joe’s is thrilled to return as the official charity partner of the Bay Race for the 17th year ‘running.’
Our Hospital staff have been giving their all for the past two years as they cared for our community amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. And yet, 11 teams from our Hospital departments have also signed up to walk, run and raise funds for St. Joe’s through the Around the Bay Road Race. Their courage and commitment are commendable.
Perhaps that’s why four loyal and generous St. Joe’s supporters are DOUBLING DOWN on Team St. Joe’s. They have committed to matching, dollar for dollar, the first $45,000 in donations made to ANY MEMBER OF TEAM ST. JOE’S! That means every pledge raised from March 2, 2022 onward will be matched and will have DOUBLE the impact at our Hospital! We’re so grateful to these donors who know how much our Hospital needs the funds raised through the Bay Race. To have your gift to any member of Team St. Joe’s matched, dollar for dollar, simply click on one of the teams or participants below to visit their fundraising page!

This year, the event will support the expansion and renewal of our Emergency Mental Health Services – a service that has never been more important than it is right now as we all cope with the long-lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds raised will also bring us one step closer to creating a new CT Suite in our busy Emergency Department. A CT Suite in the ER will help our patients get the answers they need quickly while also helping our Hospital to catch up on the backlog of diagnostic imaging procedures put on hold during the peaks of the pandemic.
Leading by Example | Our Hospital and Foundation Presidents are Taking Part, Too!
Last year, Hospital President Melissa Farrell joined forces with Dr. Zain Chagla as the Body-Break-inspired Co-Captains of Team St. Joe’s. This year, Melissa is joining forces with our Foundation President, Sera Filice-Armenio. Stride for stride, they’re leading by example as they take on the 5km Bay Race while raising funds for the Hospital.
Matching Program Details
Pledges or donations made to sponsor any Team St. Joe’s participant from March 2, 2022 onward, will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $45,000. Matched gifts may not be used to acquire fundraising incentive prizes at a higher level than was originally raised by the participant. Hospital department teams that raise $10,000 (prior to any matching funds), may have it matched to $20,000 to support research in their area.
