6,863 gifts of under $1,000 totaled an impressive $449,654.32 last year
Marinus Kok moved to Canada in 1956 from the Netherlands and in 1960 made Hamilton his home. His youngest daughter was born at St. Joe’s, as well as both of his grandchildren years later. While Marinus has been fortunate to not need care at St. Joe’s for himself, he believes exceptional healthcare is important.
“I am very happy to stay out of hospital,” shared Marinus. “My main reason for giving to St. Joe’s is to make sure that the Hospital is there to provide the best possible care to anyone who needs it.”
Marinus is especially proud to be supporting the Hospital that is in the heart of the city and serves everyone in the Hamilton community. For more than 20 years, he has been donating to St. Joe’s and for the last 17 years has been making $25 monthly contributions. “If my donation helps, then I’m happy,” he said.
In fact, over time Marinus’ donations have added up to have a major impact on our Hospital. To-date, Marinus has contributed $4,700 and next year he will be eligible for recognition on the Foundation’s Garden of Grace Donor Wall which honours donors who have given $5,000 or more in their lifetime.
In a lot of ways, it is the ongoing generosity and unwavering commitment of St. Joe’s monthly donors – like Marinus – that enable the everyday and empower the extraordinary. Whether funds are used to replace aging equipment, support Hospital staff education, or are the backbone of the innovative robotic surgery program that St. Joe’s is known for, the impact of monthly donations radiates throughout the Hospital and across our community.
Whether you donate monthly or make a one-time gift to St. Joe’s, your gift matters. To make an impact today, visit stjoesfoundation.ca/donate.
