Leading the Way Around the Bay
The infectious disease expert who’s answering the questions of our community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic is teaming up with the leader of the Hospital in the heart of #HamOnt to take on a new challenge: the 2021 Virtual Around the Bay Road Race.
Dr. Zain Chagla, Medical Director, Infection Control and Melissa Farrell, President, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton are the co-captains of Team St. Joe’s – a collection of doctors, nurses, healthcare workers and hospital employees (just like you!) who are signing up to walk, run and raise funds for St. Joe’s.
“Physically-distanced outdoor exercise like walking or running is one of the safest activities we can all engage in amidst COVID-19. It’s also one of the best things we can do for our physical and mental health,” says Dr. Chagla who’s signed up to complete a 5km run.
“The pandemic has been hard on all of us. Long-lasting feelings of fear, anxiety, depression and isolation are impacting the mental health and wellbeing of so many. That’s why we’re so proud to share that funds raised from this year’s Bay Race will support mental health services for our community and for frontline workers,” says Ms. Farrell who’s also committed to running 5km for the event.
