Our Community Helps Us Cross The Bay Race Finish Line to Raise $275,000 for St. Joe’s!
On March 27, we celebrated a return to the Around the Bay Road Race after two years of postponed events and virtual runs. It was wonderful to see so many of our Hospital staff, corporate fundraising teams and individual supporters cross the finish line at First Ontario Centre as they braved the snow and cold to take on the Bay Race, helping us reach our fundraising goal of $275,000 for our Hospital!
A big thanks goes out to the four loyal and generous St. Joe’s supporters who doubled down on Team St. Joe’s by matching, dollar for dollar, the first $45,000 in donations to team members. We’re also incredibly grateful to the 20 St. Joe’s and corporate fundraising teams, as well as the many individual fundraisers, who went the distance for St. Joe’s.
Special thanks to our friends at Healthcare & Municipal Employees’ Credit Union (HMECU) for their sponsorship of Team St. Joe’s and for providing the amazing toques that were much needed on what was surely the chilliest Bay Race day in recent memory.
Funds raised from this year’s Bay Race will support the following vital projects at St. Joe’s:
- The expansion and renewal of our Emergency Mental Health Service to meet a growing demand for care in our community in the wake of COVID-19.
- Building a much-needed CT Suite in our busy Emergency Department to help patients get answers they need quickly, while also helping our Hospital catch up on a backlog of diagnostic imaging procedures postponed during the pandemic’s peaks.
St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation has been a charity partner of The Around the Bay Road Race since 2005. Since then, the event has raised more than $4.6 million to support enhanced patient care and innovative research at our Hospital.
From event sponsors to race-day volunteers and cheering spectators in the stands and on the streets, we are so grateful to all who made this year’s event a success! See you next year!
