Team Milli - in the pink for Around the Bay!
The top corporate fundraising team for Around the Bay 2013 was Team Milli and our Foundation recently paid a visit to the iconic Hamilton apparel boutique to say a big thank you! By raising a grand total of $67,633 for St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation, the team’s 20 members went well above and far beyond our typical corporate team fundraising goal of $10,000.
This was Team Milli’s first time in the historic annual road race and team member Mark Gould remembers explaining to Foundation President Sera Filice-Armenio that they hoped to raise $50,000. “She was surprised to say the least” says Mark, “but she quickly got very excited at how amazing that would be and told us to go for it!”
As the race drew near, another corporate team asked our Director of Special Events, Anna Lewis, “Who is this Ben Gould guy on Team Milli? His pledge page is growing by the hour!” Ben was the captain of Team Milli…and he also just happens to be the Chair of the Hamilton Board Committee of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.
Mark and Ben are the sons of Milli Gould, founder of the women’s fashion boutiques that bear her name. Both sons are avid runners, and clearly formidable fundraisers… but the brothers say it was Milli’s employee, Claudia Pomeroy, who inspired their involvement.
Claudia mentioned in passing that she had run the 30k loop of the Around the Bay Road Race twice before and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Claudia inspired Mark and Ben to create Team Milli this year, and the race turned out to be a great team building experience for everyone involved. And as you can see from their personalized pink running shirts, as usual, Team Milli ran the bay race with a little more style than your average runner!
St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation is so grateful to Team Milli and to all of our corporate fundraising teams who work, walk and run hard to raise funds to support patient care and research at our Hospital.
