width=RBC Dominion Securities is helping our tiniest patients grow big and strong

Sometimes the babies born at our Hospital arrive a little early or are born with a medical condition that means they can’t go home right away. When that happens, newborns will often spend a few days to a few weeks in our Special Care Nursery using a Giraffe OmniBed Carestation. That’s why we’re so grateful to our friends at RBC Dominion Securities for their generous donation of $3,000 to help equip our Special Care Nursery with a new Carestation to replace one that’s nearing the end of its useful lifespan.

This piece of equipment is unique because it converts from an incubator to an infant warmer to provide comfort, safety and stability for babies as they develop the strength they need to go home with their families. Special openings in the incubator allow access for medical care while also enabling parents to reach inside and build a bond with their new baby through comforting touches and support.

Many people are surprised to learn that the operating dollars our Hospital receives from the government do not cover the costs of purchasing medical equipment like the Giraffe OmniBed Carestation. But it’s true.

We rely on the support of RBC Dominion Securities and so many other generous donors who have given to this campaign. You too, can make a gift to help ensure our tiniest patients can benefit from the support of our care teams and the help of a specialized Giraffe OmniBed Carestation. We’ve already raised $57,518 and we need your support to help us reach our goal of $75,000.

Together, we can help babies go home with their families sooner. Donate today!
