Recent Gifts to the Robotic Surgery Revolution Campaign
In May of 2025, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation announced it had reached the half-way mark after embarking upon a $20 million fundraising campaign to support the future of robotic surgery and surgical innovation at St. Joe’s. The Robotic Surgery Revolution Campaign is built on four inspirational pillars:
- Bringing the best technology to St. Joe’s: raising funds to help the Hospital to purchase the da Vinci 5 next generation surgical robot
- Finding new ways to help even more patients: supporting our surgeons as they seek to find new applications for this advanced surgical technology
- Fueling the future of robotic surgical innovation: providing funding for research in robotic surgery and surgical innovation that will advance care and help advocate for further government funding
- Training the Robotic Surgeons of tomorrow: donations to this pillar will support our academic mission to train more robotic surgeons on the da Vinci and MAKO Rio platforms as we know that robotic surgery is the future of surgical care
Over the past few months, there have been several new gifts made to the campaign and we’re excited to share them with you! Together we’ve already raised more than $14 million towards our $20 million goal! Read on to learn why some recent donors are so inspired by this campaign.

Gord and Heather Albini
We’re proud to support the robotic surgery program at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. It’s all about giving patients the best possible care. St. Joe’s has always been a leader in innovation, and we believe this technology will make a meaningful difference for our community. By backing this talented team of surgeons, we’re helping bring advanced technology and compassionate care together leading to better outcomes, quicker recoveries, and a better quality of life for patients and their families. We’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a program that will touch so many lives in such a positive way.

Ken Barlow
I made a donation to support robotic surgery at St. Joe’s because I am impressed by the technology – how it enables the surgeons to improve patient outcomes and how the robot is used for a growing number of procedures. I’m proud to be able to contribute to advance surgical care to benefit more people in our community.

Peter Cooper
Before my retirement, I was involved in the development of many scientific and engineering technologies. I have been following with great interest the recent advances in the Orthopedic Robotics Program at St. Joe’s and how it has resulted in less invasive procedures in the operating room and faster recuperative times after surgery. I would like to thank Dr. Bobby Shayegan, Dr. Vickas Khanna and their wonderful staffs for the high standard of care I have received in the last few years. Their efforts have ensured that I can continue to enjoy an active and engaged lifestyle with my family and friends. I look forward to receiving ongoing updates on their progress and will continue to support their efforts.

Jim Jarrell
After experiencing the hardest chapter of my life, robotic surgery provided the precise care that gave me and my family the best possible outcome. Together, we’re giving back to ensure that others have access to that same robotic surgery lifeline.

Wray and Marie Knox
In late 2018, a biopsy brought the unexpected recommendation for Wray to have prostate surgery. Following the extraordinary, compassionate care provided by Dr. Shayegan and the robotic surgery team at St. Joe’s, we felt compelled to give back. Supporting the Robotic Surgery Campaign is our way of ensuring future generations can benefit from this cutting-edge technology and research…our way of paying it forward, because we believe it’s always better to give than receive.

Donna Spasic & the Madison Team
Robotic surgeries are the future of our health care system. The equipment will ensure greater precision, shorter recovery, lower the risk of infections and reduce hospital stays, too.

Ron and Nancy Clark Foundation
The Ron and Nancy Clark Foundation has chosen to support robotic surgery at St. Joe’s because it advances innovative, high-quality healthcare that improves patient outcomes and strengthens local communities. This investment reflects the Foundation’s long-standing commitment to impactful healthcare initiatives that make a meaningful difference both locally and beyond.
