St. Elizabeth Village Returns as the Lead Sponsor of the St. Joe’s Golf Tournament for year Four

Golf for a Great Cause: The Annual St. Joe’s Golf Tournament Presented by St. Elizabeth Village Raises Funds for the Renewal of Emergency Mental Health Services

After a long winter and early spring spent in lockdown, a sunny day on the links in support of St. Joe’s never sounded so good. St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation is proud to join forces once again with St. Elizabeth Village, a Zest Community, to present the 4th Annual St. Joe’s Golf Tournament.

The tournament will take place on Thursday, September 9th at Glendale Golf & Country Club in Hamilton. While we are emerging on the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will continue to take the utmost care to ensure the health and safety of our golfers. Attendees will be treated to on-course (socially distant) food stations, an online auction where bids can be submitted via your mobile phone, and a variety of well-loved contests such as longest drive, closest to the pin, and hole-in-one.

Rob Baiocco, Vice-President of St. Elizabeth Village (a Zest Community), the tournament’s presenting sponsor says he’s excited to see the innovations the 4th annual event will offer guests, but the reasons St. Elizabeth Village returns as a sponsor, year after year, are based on the Hospital’s long history of providing exceptional care.

“With more than 1,000 active residents aged 55+, all of us at St. Elizabeth Village see supporting St. Joe’s as a natural fit,” says Rob. “Whether the staff at St. Joe’s are providing care in the hospital or supporting community partners like St. Elizabeth Village as we strive to keep our residents safe amidst COVID-19, the care teams at the Hospital not only provide exceptional medical care, but they deliver it with dignity and respect. It’s why we’re collectively so proud to be returning as the presenting sponsor of this charity golf event.”

Despite the tournament’s cancellation last year due to the pandemic, a dedicated network of golfers and friends of St. Joe’s still raised nearly $33,000 to support the Hospital’s COVID-19 Pandemic Response Fund. This year, it’s hoped that the tournament will raise $80,000 to assist in the renewal and expansion of St. Joe’s Emergency Mental Health Services department, creating a larger and more patient-centred space for those in crisis.

“We’re so grateful to the owners and residents of St. Elizabeth Village for their unwavering support of the St. Joe’s Tournament,” says Foundation President & CEO, Sera Filice-Armenio. “Through their generous sponsorship of this event they’re ensuring the people of our region continue to have access to the very best healthcare—right here in Hamilton, right here at St. Joe’s.”

For those interested in a great day on the course, individual golfers can register until the day of the event for $300, while booking a foursome is $1,200. A host of sponsorship opportunities are also available. For all event inquiries, please contact Adam Tillich, Senior Officer, Special Events and Community Partnerships with St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation at 905-870-5417 or via email at adam@stjoesfoundation.ca.

*If you’ve been a longtime participant in golf tournaments supporting St. Joe’s, you may be wondering about our math! After a 15-year run raising more than $1.2 million for our Hospital, the Lina DeSantis Memorial Golf Tournament wound to a close in 2017. We are eternally grateful for the long-standing support of the volunteers, sponsors, donors and golfers who have and continue to support St. Joe’s through a day on the links.
